ユウゼン / Wrought-Iron Butterflyfish

錬鉄

ユウゼンは、主に伊豆諸島や小笠原諸島で見られる日本固有種の魚です。
英名にある Wrought-Iron は錬鉄という意味で、鉄の製法の一種らしいです。私にはユウゼンは鉄っぽく見えませんが。
ちなみに、日本名のユウゼンは、友禅染からきています。

The Wrought-Iron Butterflyfish (Chaetodon daedalma), is endemic species of Japan, can be mainly found in the Izu Islands and the Ogasawara Islands.
The Wrought-Iron Butterflyfish is called "Yuzen" in Japanese, which has a meaning of the Japanese traditional technique to dye cloth with patterns.
